Senior Research Scientist of Bioactives in Food Technology

The National Food Institute (DTU Food), which is a department in the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), invites applications for a position as Senior Research Scientist in Bioactives in Food Technology. The research in the Research Group of Bioactives – analysis and applications is concerned with obtaining knowledge and developing technologies and processes, which can contribute to improving the eating quality and oxidative stability of food as well as increasing the population’s intake of healthy foods, which are rich in vitamins, healthy lipids and proteins/peptides. Responsibilities and tasks The senior research scientist will be expected to take project and scientific leadership in the Research Group on Bioactives. The group has a dynamic staff with high international visibility, many research collaborations with leading international universities and organisations and a successful track record of national and international research projects. Candidates are expected to take on responsibility for further development of research and innovation activities related to the group with particular emphasis on lipids, lipid oxidation and antioxidants. Candidates are expected to engage in innovation and advisory activities in relation to food technology in a broad sense. Scientific advice, teaching and supervision activities are to be expected as a supplement to the research work. There will be close collaboration with industrial partners and an extensive cross-disciplinary collaboration with other researchers at DTU. Qualifications Candidates must •hold a PhD degree or equivalent as well as academic qualifications equivalent to those obtained by holding a position as Researcher or Postdoc. •document didactic/pedagogic training Further qualifications: Emphasis will be on the candidate’s qualifications on lipids, lipid oxidation and antioxidants. Further, emphasis will be placed on the applicant’s potential to develop the subject area and on documented original scientific production at international level. Recent successful attraction of research funding e.g. from private, national or European sources is a priority qualification. Finally, emphasis will be placed on the candidate’s drive towards integration of the work in the Bioactive Research Group with other relevant research environments at DTU and with other universities relevant for the position in question. Assessment In the assessment of the candidates consideration will be given to: •scientific production and research potential at international level •innovative skills and the ability to generate new ideas •the ability to communicate at all levels such as the provision of scientific advice to public sector authorities •experience in teaching and education •the ability to promote and utilize research results •an all-round experience basis, preferably including international experience •the ability to contribute to development of internal and external cooperation For the specific position consideration will also be given to: Candidates are expected to demonstrate a potential for research-related leadership in the Research Group. This involves documented experience in the following fields of relevance to the theme of food technology: •Research management, including management assignments in national or international projects, research programmes, organisation of congresses etc. •Supervision of students at various levels on the university’s study programmes. •Innovation and the transfer of research results for the benefit of commercialisation etc. •Collaborative research experience with industrial partners and international universities, including joint proposals and publications. •Experience with managing lab technicians •Expertise within analysis of lipid oxidation and antioxidants •High quality publications and dissemination in the area of lipid oxidation and antioxidants We offer DTU offers an interesting and challenging job in a
