About the department The job is located in Novo Nordisk R&D area in the department Chemical Development. In our department you will find 60 highly skilled and motivated colleagues with a “can-do” attitude, who constantly challenge themselves to create, improve, upscale and transfer robust chemical processes. Our main responsibility is to develop and strengthen chemical processes from production for pre-clinical and clinical studies, to the transfer to the area responsible for market production. We do so in close collaboration with multiple stakeholders including discovery teams, analysis teams, Quality Assurance, Regulatory Affairs, pilot facilities, and Contract Manufacture Organisation (CMOs). The position We are looking for candidates with a keen interest in working with late stage Chemistry, Manufacturing and Control (CMC) drug development activities (phase 3 and beyond) with the main focus of transferring and taking over projects aiming for market production. You will provide scientific and professional expertise for our pipeline R&D projects. It will be your responsibility to facilitate the transfer of chemical processes from CMC to Product Supply both within in-house projects and externally projects from CMOs, generating relevant technical documentation, and ensure a high level of compliance from process justification, through process validation to market production. The progress of the projects will be evaluated internally in the team but also in cross-functional project groups which you will be part of. You will give input to regulatory submissions of files to authorities and drive and/or facilitate submission and approval. The key scientific discipline is organic synthesis. Qualifications Ideally, you completed your PhD (or equivalent) in synthetic organic chemistry at least five years ago, and have relevant experience from outside of academia. You have a profound drug development insight and the ability to impact a successful drug development team. You have worked in a setting where quality management, Current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP), and pharmaceutical development have been your everyday environment. It is considered as an advantage if you have experience with CMC activities, process validation and regulatory demands. Also, it will be valuable if you have worked with project cost reduction within chemical processes. An innovative and flexible mind-set being able to convert theory into practical solutions is expected. You have the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively across disciplines in drug development and with external partners. Moreover you have a positive attitude, and the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with other disciplines and independently drive complex development projects according to goals and milestones.
