About the department We are seeking a talented and innovative scientist to join the dept. of Diabetes Pharmacology, which is part of Global Research. Our department is responsible for in vivo pharmacology in rodents. We develop, characterise and use animal models for early evaluation of drug candidates for treatment of diabetes, with focus on new anti-diabetics for T2DM, beta-cell regeneration and diabetic cardiovascular complications. The department consists of approximately 20 employees including academics, technicians and Ph.D. students. We work in smaller teams in a flexible, collaborative and cross-functional setting, while keeping focus on quality and goals in an informal environment. The position Your key scientific responsibilities will be to actively support discovery projects by designing, coordinating, and reporting efficacy studies in rodents and by being an active part of project teams. You will be responsible for analysing and presenting the experimental data to colleagues and management. You will also be expected to contribute to innovation by identifying and exploring new drug targets and project opportunities. Within the line organisation, you will be an active driver in continuously improving our experimental approach in evaluating the potential of new drug candidates and understanding their mechanism of action. You will also be responsible for managing 1-2 technicians and to maintain a close collaboration with our Animal Unit. You will participate in cross-functional project teams with colleagues representing many different scientific disciplines. Your role in these project groups will be to provide solid in vivo pharmacological expertise and conclusive experimental in vivo data in order to bring the projects forward. You will be encouraged to initiate and coordinate external scientific collaborations. Qualifications You hold a Ph.D. degree within natural sciences and have substantial research experience within in vivo pharmacology with a thorough understanding of diabetes, the metabolic syndrome and comorbidities. You have at least 3-5 years of post-doctoral experience ideally within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry. You are flexible, open to new ideas, ambitious, result oriented and you have a good sense of humour. The job requires proficiency in English and excellent communication and collaboration skills. You will be part of a team in a highly dynamic and challenging environment within Global Research.
