The Systems Analysis Division is placed within Department of Management Engineering, DTU. The division conducts basic and applied research within the area of energy system analysis, policy instruments, energy demand, geography, economics, and climate science. Research focuses on how to form and create pathways to future renewable based energy systems and addresses national and international issues and covers the level of society as well as consumers and businesses. Responsibililties and tasks Research / Public sector consultancy: The research assistant will mainly participate in the research activities of the Energy Economics and Regulation group within the Systems Analysis Division. Focus will be on policies and regulation on energy markets, especially policies dedicated to supporting electricity and heat from renewable sources and integrating them into the system. Specific projects and activities include but are not limited to: •Analysis of effectiveness and efficiency of national and EU energy policies, including renewable support instruments, and their interactions •Innovative regulations and power market designs for the large scale integration of variable renewable energies •Development of regional policies for the promotion of renewable heating, using specific cities as a case. The research will be undertaken as part of externally funded research projects (EU projects, Nordic projects and national projects) as well as public sector consultancy tasks. Contribution to the publication of research findings in scientific journals and the dissemination of results at conferences etc. are expected. Other activities: The research assistant will to a limited extent perform administrative tasks related to organising meetings, project progress reporting, and similar. Qualifications Candidates should have a master’s degree in engineering or equivalent. Further qualifications: •Strong background and interest in sustainable energy and energy systems •Experience within energy policy analysis from an economic perspective •A longer-term interest in pursuing a research career •Excellent writing and communication skills •Ability to work in an interdisciplinary and international environment as well as in a Danish and Nordic context •Proficiency in Danish (or Swedish, Norwegian) language is an advantage We offer We offer an interesting and challenging job in an international environment focusing on education, research, public-sector consultancy and innovation, which contribute to enhancing the economy and improving social welfare.
