A postdoctoral position is available from 1. May 2019, or soon thereafter, in the laboratory of Prof. I. Novak at Section for Cell Biology and Physiology, Department of Biology, University of Copenhagen.
The position will be associated with the project “Role of purinergic signalling in pancreatic cancer” funded by the Danish Council for Independent Research |Natural Sciences. The position is for one year.
Scientific environment
Our research addresses the role of extracellular ATP and purinergic signaling in regulation of ion transport, metabolism, cellular signaling and cell behavior in pancreatic and other cells. Long term goal is to gain understanding how perturbation in these mechanisms contribute to pancreatic cancer, diabetes and obesity. The expertise in our international group ranges from molecular biology to physiology with particular focus on innovative techniques in live cell microscopic imaging, and we run the Center for Advanced Bioimaging (http://www.cab.ku.dk) at Nørre Campus. In pancreatic cancer field, we have collaborations with Herlev Hospital and researchers in Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Innovative Training Network on Pancreatic Cancer. Project
The overall goal of the postdoctoral project is to elucidate whether purinergic signalling, in particular genetic variants in P2 receptors, could be associated with pancreatic cancer. The study will include SNP analysis of P2 receptors from human samples, data mining from cancer data bases and collaboration with a PhD student on cell assays on pancreas cancer models and recombinant receptor expression.

Qualifications
We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced candidate who holds a Ph.D. degree with background in genetics, molecular biology, bioinformatics, computational biology or related fields. In addition, experience in cancer research and cell biology is advantageous. The applicant must be proficient in spoken and written English.
The position is open from 1. May 2019 or as soon as possible thereafter.

Terms of employment
The position is covered by the Memorandum on Job Structure for Academic Staff.

The starting salary is currently up to DKK 426.625 including annual supplement (+ pension up to DKK 72.952). Negotiation for salary supplement is possible.
