We are looking for a highly motivated and dynamic researcher for a 1 year post doc position starting in May 2019 in the Brakebusch lab. The Brakebusch lab is located at the Biotech Research and Innovation Center (BRIC) (http://www.bric.ku.dk/Research/Brakebusch_Group/), which is a Center of Excellence in biomedical research with around 200 scientists.

Our research
N-WASP is a ubiquitously expressed actin-nucleating molecule present in the cytoplasm and in the nucleus. Recently, we revealed that nuclear N-WASP is an important epigenetic regulator controlling the expression of IL-23 in keratinocytes. Mice lacking N-WASP in keratinocytes show perturbed e regulation of the epigenetic mark H3K9me2 and develop an IL-23 dependent skin inflammation (Li et al., 2018, Nat. Commun.). Unpublished data from our group indicate now that N-WASP is also important for the development of skin tumor by regulating keratinocyte senescence in vivo and in vitro. Aim of the current project is to investigate the structure-function relationship of N-WASP with respect to senescence regulation by expressing N-WASP point mutations in primary mouse keratinocytes.

Your job
Your task would be to generate 10 point mutants of N-WASP and express them in primary mouse keratinocytes lacking N-WASP. Senescence development will be monitored by proliferation assays and detection of different senescence markers by qRT PCR and Western blot. Furthermore, epigenetic changes and N-WASP protein-protein interactions will be tested.

Profile
We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic scientist with the following competencies and experience:

Essential experience and skills:

• You have a PhD in biological/biomedical science
• You are highly experienced in cell culture and molecular biology
• You have an active interest in cellular senescence, cancer, and aging
• Proficient communication skills and ability to work in teams
• Excellent English skills written and spoken

Desirable experience and skills:

• Experience in isolation and culture of primary keratinocytes
• Experience in CRISPR genome editing

Place of employment

Terms of employment
The employment as postdoc is a full time and fixed-term position for 1 year. Starting date is May 1, 2019, or after agreement.
Salary, pension and terms of employment will be in accordance with the agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations). Currently, the monthly salary starts at 33,700 DKK/ approx. 4,514 Euro (October 2018-level). Depending on qualifications, a supplement may be negotiated. The employer will pay an additional 17.1 % to your pension fund.

Non-Danish and Danish applicants may be eligible for tax reductions, if they hold a PhD degree and have not lived in Denmark the last 10 years.

The position is covered by the “Memorandum on Job Structure for Academic Staff at the Universities” of June 28, 2013.
