A PhD position is available in the 'T cells and Cancer' group headed by Professor Sine Reker Hadrup, DTU Nanotech, the Technical University of Denmark, Kgs. Lyngby.

The 'T cell recognition and Cancer' group is currently consisting of 25-30 people, including Postdocs, PhD students, Technicians and undergraduate students.

The overall aim of the research group is to gain novel insight to T cell recognition of cancer and autoimmune diseases, through use and development of novel technologies.

Responsibilities and tasks

The PhD student will be responsible for one of the below projects:
  • Experimental project on neoepitope recognition in cancer mice models. Preclinical models for designing optimal vaccination strategies for personalized neoepitope vaccinations. Based on funding from the Innovation Fond
  • Experimental project on T cell recognition in Melanoma. In depth understanding of the epitope landscape and the T cell recognition induced following adoptive T cell transfer. Provide understanding of important cancer rejection antigens and the functional characteristics of T cells correlating to tumor regression. Based on funding from NEYE reaserch fond
  • Bioinformatic project on cancer genomics and neoepitope landscape in cancer and circulation tumor cells. Determine parameters for favourable clinical outcome following immunotherapy and determine if such parameters can be assessed in CTCs. Based on funding from Novo Nordisk research fond

We expect the applicant to have experience in:
  • Immunological background with overview of the innate and adaptive immune systems
  • Molecular biology
  • mRNA purification
  • Flow cytometry, FACS and its analysis with FlowJo
  • Experience with PCR/qPCR and sequencing
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture and aseptic/sterile techniques
  • A strong interest in T cell and cancer immunology

Further for project 1 and 2:
  • Knowledge in T cell detection techniques
  • Experience with the use of MHC multimers for T cell detection
  • Experience with molecular encoding using DNA barcodes

Further for project 3:
  • Experience in coding, genomic analyses, expression array data
  • Experience with R, Unix,
  • Expression analyses using Kallisto
  • Neoepitope identification pipeline, MuPeXI, GATK4, MuTect2, OptiType

Qualifications

Candidates should have a two-year master's degree (120 ECTS points) or a similar degree with an academic level equivalent to a two-year master's degree.

The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union. The period of employment is 3 years.
