About the department The Primary Packaging Development department develops packaging for all Novo Nordisk’s pharmaceuticals. The packaging will reach our consumers and must live up to detailed criteria as to functionality, patient safety and other legislative requirements. This means that we find the best suitable packaging materials and designs for new pharmaceutical products. And, naturally, we spend a great deal of time documenting our activities. By doing that, we are at all times ready for inspection from any health authority. The job You will develop state-of-the-art packaging keeping in mind the processability as well as drug delivery functions, drug protection and other aspects of patient safety. You are in close dialogue with your colleagues in our Production, Supply Chain and R&D in order to assent to the requirements. Subsequently, you will make your research in the market to find suitable solutions, and you meet with the suppliers of packaging components to develop and refine the products. Next step will be to write the specifications with strict adherence to instructions, legislation and standards. You prove that your solution is safe and robust by testing it, and finally your solution will reach our patients. Your specialist skills will also be called on when our production facilities encounter unexpected events that have to be investigated and solved. Also, market feedback, new requirements and supply chain changes require that you adjust design and documentation. Qualifications You hold a Master’s degree in Pharmacy, Engineering or Chemistry, or you have another background and experience that has enriched you to a similar level. You have some years’ experience within the area of development and maintenance of primary packaging for pharmaceuticals, food or medical devices with special attention to product documentation. Preferably, you have knowledge about vials, cartridges, prefilled syringes, container closure systems for critical raw materials or tablet blister packaging. You have been working with glass, rubber, aluminium and plastics, and preferably you have knowledge of pharmaceutical processes such as aseptic filling and sterilisation. Finding the solutions that are sustainable, advisable and able to be incorporated in manufacturing processes is a motivating factor to you.
