The purpose of Neas Energy's Operational Risk function is to help Neas Energy manage and control the risks of loss due to inappropriate or inadequate internal procedures, human errors, systems failures or external events. As part of the Operational Risk team you will provide an overview of Neas Energy’s operational risks and help minimise the number of errors by taking proactive actions. You will interact with the entire organisation and you will have a close working relationship with Operational Risk colleagues in the London Office.   

Specifically, the Operational Risk Manager will:  

• Support the EM&T Head of Operational Risk in continuously providing independent oversight of operational risk within Aalborg
• Champion an Operational risk mind-set across the Aalborg office and create a strong Operational Risk presence in the Aalborg office
• Be responsible for providing independent proactive operational risk advice and challenge to commercial and trading managers and their teams through regular reporting and discussion
• Be responsible for investigation of operational incidents
• Be responsible for producing and distributing incident reporting on operational risk events in a timely fashion
• Be responsible for ensuring an effective internal follow-up on reported issues and facilitate establishment of proactive actions
• Participate in workshops defining the overall global alignment of the diverse business under the Centrica umbrella

You have good problem-solving skills and are confident and determined to succeed in a dynamic and demanding business environment. Having strong interpersonal skills and an ability to interact and communicate at all levels is a pre-requisite for this position. The ability to pick up concepts quickly and display a level of understanding is key to demonstrating awareness of the business.  

You will also have:  

• Demonstrable experience of working in an energy trading, financial or banking environment coupled with a strong working knowledge of the trade lifecycle 
• Previous experience in an Operational Risk or Control function 
• A strong independent mind in executing responsibilities alongside developing and maintaining effective working relationships at all levels across the organisation. 
• Confidence, presence, resilience and determination to succeed in a dynamic and demanding business environment 
• Excellent attention to detail, well organised with good problem solving and root cause identification skills
• Demonstrable ability to manage multiple projects with varying, time pressured deliverables
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact and communicate at all levels
