Would you like to join a high-focus area supporting our wind power organisation to lead the permitting team responsible for environmental and permitting activities in the EU?

Join us and become Head of Permits – EU in the Permits – EU department where you’ll line manage a highly skilled international team based across several locations. The team delivers resources to our offshore projects across Europe. It focuses on activities relating to screening of our early market projects, providing input for bidding processes and obtaining key authority permits for our development projects. This includes procuring and managing environmental impact assessment and consultation processes. Further, the team is responsible for maintaining permits and ensuring compliance with conditions through the construction and operational phases for our projects.

The Permits – EU department covers 11 employees engaged in our projects, primarily in the EU. As the Head of Permits – EU, you’ll be reporting to the Head of Environment, Consents & Property (ECP) and work closely with the managers of the other consenting teams covering our global footprint and all project phases in Offshore.

Your key tasks will be to

• recruit and develop staff to secure the right level of competences and location to fit the short- and long-term resource demand in the individual projects, as well as facilitating the development of talents and actively communicating career potentials
• set the direction of the department in the ways we’re working to supply the right resources and to deliver permits on time and within budget and scope
• support project teams in optimising the approach to the permitting process in the relevant markets by bringing in knowledge from across our portfolio
• manage specific cross-departmental and strategic workstreams and initiatives while driving quality, standardisation and efficiency of the deliverables from the department to fit business objectives
• support strong QHSE performance, including managing compliance with permits.

You’ll also promote and engage in environmental and permitting aspects for internal and external stakeholders. In addition, you’ll engage with the Strategic Environment team and the larger ECP team, ensuring that industry lessons learnt are applied across projects and the wider portfolio. Optimising the authority process and ensuring compliance with wider company standards, like our biodiversity policy, is an essential part of your role.

Your competences include that you

• have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to lead and inspire a team of highly skilled individuals while functioning as part of a big organisation
• have worked with teams located internationally and preferably have experience in line managing people
• have worked across multiple projects and in challenging situations and are able to prioritise and manage demands
• have comprehensive understanding of environmental and permitting processes in several markets; preferably, you have experience working with regulators, agencies and environmental stakeholders internationally in a similar industry
• speak and write English fluently – proficiency in additional European languages, for example German, is an advantage for the position.

It’s essential that you’re able to communicate at all levels, work in a structured manner and delegate and trust your team. You have a good understanding of sustainability topics and have preferably been involved in managing environmental and regulatory compliance.
