For the department Diabetes Pharmacology we are seeking a qualified and motivated Department Head. The ideal candidate has management experience and a solid research background within in vivo pharmacology and diabetes. About the department The department is organised within the Global Research of Novo Nordisk A/S and located in Måløv, Copenhagen, Denmark. The Function is responsible for all in vivo pharmacology and pharmacokinetic studies in the discovery phase of diabetes research projects. You will be part of a team in a highly dynamic and challenging environment within the Diabetes Research Unit. The job You will be responsible for managing and developing a Department of 20 highly motivated research scientists and laboratory technicians working with rodent in vivo pharmacology. Main focus of the department is beta cell projects and assessment of CVD risks and upsides in diabetes projects. As Department Head, you will be responsible for the budget, setting business targets, following up on deliverables and reporting progress and status to appropriate governance bodies. It is expected that you have the insight, drive, commitment and communication skills to set the optimal boundaries for reaching highly ambitious industrial targets without compromising a highly scientific and creative environment. You will be reporting directly to the Vice President of “Histology and Diabetes Pharmacology” and be involved in shaping and executing the future strategy of the area. Furthermore you will be part of international research networks, both in industry and academia. Qualifications You hold a degree in Medicine, Veterinary Medicine, Human Biology, Pharmacology, Pharmacy or a related area. Further, you have a Ph.D. degree and at least five years' postdoc hands-on work experience with in vivo pharmacology within the area of diabetes. You have leadership qualities and at least two years of documented management experience. Experience within the pharmaceutical industry is mandatory. You are a motivating, dynamic and engaging performance driver, flexible, open to new ideas, ambitious and have strong communication and coaching skills. You have authority but are also good at collaborating in teams and able to accommodate and manage diversity. You are fluent in English.
