Do you want to be part of a high-performing advanced analytics team and accompany us on the journey of creating a world that runs entirely on green energy?

Join us and become Data Scientist (maternity cover) in Advanced Analytics where you’ll be part of a growing team with the possibility of continuing in a permanent position.

Along with your colleagues in the Advanced Analytics team, you’ll be responsible for developing energy solutions that are concurrently reducing the CO₂ footprint and the cost of energy for our customers. Advanced Analytics work across the Customer Solutions division on topics including energy forecasting, asset design, predictive maintenance and energy trading.

Our team operates in short agile projects across customer solutions and energy markets with broad exposure to senior management. We work mainly in Python, utilising open source packages (e.g. Pandas, Scikit-learn) delivering machine learning and optimisation tools to the business through web technology-based interfaces (e.g. Django, Flask). We constantly evolve our way of working, engage with the analytics community and collaborate with universities to be at the cutting edge.

 

Your key tasks will be to

• collaboratively work on complex data problems to provide insight and decision support to one of the most important real-world problems
• help to drive the analytical scope and method for projects, including formulating and shaping the data science models
• build strong links with the academic world and constantly share ideas and stay ahead of the curve on the latest methods.

Furthermore, you’ll be working in our high-performing team of data scientists together with business and energy domain experts to go from data to impact. You’ll learn to deeply understand the data science and data engineering process. You’ll also collaboratively advance the state of the art and experience the thrill of building high-impact analytics solutions with immediate environmental and business impact.

 

Your competences include that you

• have an educational background with a MSc or PhD degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics or similar with a good understanding of machine learning techniques and statistics
• are an experienced programmer with experience in developing high-quality solutions in Python or similar. Other programming experience may be helpful
• have experience in software development practices such as version control and testing
• are familiar with Pandas and Scikit-learn. Experience applying data science methods to business problems is a plus.

You may be a recent graduate or have worked in a start-up or as a consultant. You’re a highly collaborative individual who can lay aside your own agenda, listen to and learn from colleagues, challenge thoughtfully and prioritise impact. You believe in iterative change, experimenting with new approaches and learning and improving to move forward quickly.
