Do you want to be part of catalyzing natural and technical science research, in fields with potential interdisciplinary application to the life sciences and industrial biotechnology?

The Novo Nordisk Foundation is looking for a Coordinating Scientific Officer, to support establishment of a new grant-awarding area. Natural and Technical Science Research and Interdisciplinarity (Nat-Tech) is one of six newly defined strategic areas in the 2019-2023 Strategy. Interdisciplinary research in the natural and technical sciences plays an important role in advances in biomedicine and biotechnology, and thus has become a new focus for the Novo Nordisk Foundation.   

With a focus on impact, the Coordinating Scientific Officer will support the Head of Department in conceiving, developing, and executing grant-awarding activities. This will be done in collaboration with colleagues and key partners such as universities, research centres, and companies.   

The Job  

As Coordinating Scientific Officer, you will support the Head of Department in implementing and following up on projects supporting basic natural and technical science research with potential interdisciplinary application to biomedicine, health sciences or biotechnology.   

Your tasks will include:  

• Drive, coordinate, support and follow-up on projects  
• Support the department in administrative tasks, including preparation of presentations  
• Support communications efforts with interdisciplinary networks  
• Prepare reports, formal documents and other highly professional written material  
• Prepare and provide input to publications on grant activities

Professional Qualifications  

We are looking for a Scientific Officer with an Cand. Scient. degree and Ph.D. degree in natural or technical sciences, preferably with experience in interdisciplinary research. You are preferably experienced in research at the level of Postdoc, Senior Scientist, Assistant Professor or Associate Professor.   We expect that you possess: 

• Comprehensive understanding of the nature and culture of science  
• Excellent ability to understand, analyse and communicate research results, research projects, and research evaluations  
• Understanding of concepts, practices, policies, and procedures within an interdisciplinary field of natural scientific research in the public and/or private sectors  
• Ability to manage several complex projects simultaneously  
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal, especially in English
