Can you help us control technical risks in mechanical wind turbine design? Join us and become Composites & Mechanical Senior Engineer in the WTG Mechanical department, which serves as technical specialists for blades, hub, nacelle, tower and davit crane mechanics. The department contributes throughout our value chain from qualification of wind turbine suppliers over wind farm development and construction to service and maintenance. The department is part of Wind Power, which has 1,800 employees and is one of four business units in DONG Energy. Wind Power is the world's largest developer and operator of offshore wind power, and we use our unique knowledge in all phases of our wind turbine projects. During the last 20 years, we have developed and constructed the largest portfolio of offshore wind farms in Northern Europe. You may choose freely to be based either at our office in Skærbæk near Fredericia or in Gentofte in the Greater Copenhagen area. However, you should expect some travelling in relation to your work. Your key duties will be to •provide technical support to our supervisors and quality auditors in audits of suppliers as well as in first article inspections and manufacturing quality inspections •follow up on technical issues during manufacturing, installation and operation while providing status reports to project management and stakeholders •build specialist competence in the design and manufacturing of mechanical components in the wind turbine. You will join a team of wind turbine mechanical specialists who support the business in a number of areas, including technical business risk analyses and specification and negotiation of technical requirements. Moreover, the team conducts manufacturing and installation surveillance during project construction as well as root cause analysis on failed components and systems during operation. Your technical focus area will mainly be the wind turbine blades and nacelle canopy, but will also include other mechanical components. You will support our construction projects as well as the service and maintenance of wind turbines in operation. You will have a close collaboration with the technical project managers for the wind turbine supply projects and for the service and maintenance activities. Your qualifications and core competences include that you •have a bachelor or master's degree in mechanical engineering •have some years of experience with composites design and manufacturing, preferably from the wind turbine blade industry •have a good insight into the control of the quality and reliability of wind turbine blades through specifications for materials, manufacturing processes, inspection, testing and verification while linking to the relevant failure modes and service strategies •can translate technical observations into detailed project risk descriptions and are able to define the actions needed to mitigate risks and coordinate these actions in a team •speak and write English fluently. As a person, your good communication skills allow you to achieve results in teams with many stakeholders. With a keen eye for detail, you focus on adding value and creating results.
