Two 4-year, full-time positions as Assistant Professor are available at the Department of Public Health, Global Health Section, University of Copenhagen, starting on 1 May 2019, or as soon as possible hereafter.
The positions:
Both positions will be part of an interdisciplinary team managing our research-based educational programmes, in particular Master of Disaster Management and Master of Science in Global Health. Educational responsibilities will include teaching with associated examination and thesis supervision. Course leadership may also be expected.
Assistant Professor - Public Health in Humanitarian Action
The Assistant Professor should have research experience in the area of public health with a special focus on disasters and humanitarian coordination and action. .Future research is expected within main area of experience with a clear plan for publication and other forms of scientific communication.
Assistant Professor - Public Health of Non-communicable Diseases in a Global Context
The Assistant Professor should have research experience in the area of public health with a special focus on one or more of the following areas: Prevention and management of non-communicable diseases with a focus upon low- and middle-income countries (LMIC); prevention of suicide and self-harm; mental health promotion; managing non-communicable diseases in humanitarian settings ; interaction and management of non-communicable and communicable disease co-morbidities; foetal programming and cardio-metabolic diseases; environmental and behavioural risk factors of non-communicable diseases. Future research is expected within the main area of experience with a clear plan for publication and other forms of scientific communication
Qualifications
- PhD or similar qualifications in medicine, public health, global health, psychology, medical anthropology and other health related social sciences
- Co-authored articles in international peer reviewed journals within one or several of the above mentioned areas
- Documented research project management experience within one or several of the above mentioned areas considered an advantage
- Field research experience from low or middle income countries considered an advantage
- Teaching experience including online learning approaches at university level an advantage
- Be enterprising and possess good interpersonal skills
- Fluency in English (spoken and written)
Salary and other terms and conditions of appointment are set in accordance with the Agreement between the Ministry of Finance and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations) or other relevant professional organizations. In addition to the seniority-based salary, the appointee will receive a monthly supplement of currently DKK 4,416.34 and additional bonuses may be negotiated on an individual basis.
During your employment as Assistant Professor, participation in the formal pedagogical training program for assistant professors is expected.
