Would you like a new, innovative role where you break new ground for ECCO, as you help us improve the textile knowhow in regard to quality, future usage and application? Be our textile expert and work creatively, commercially and technically to see the final results in production. As a textile engineer in the Research & Development department located in Denmark and Portugal, you will get many dedicated colleagues who are ready to spar with you. Your department will be Purchase & Testing. You will also collaborate across the organization with our creative and technical department, and our Production, in order to incorporate textile in our future products and ensure the highest quality. Job Profile: We at ECCO are now also looking more closely at the textile segment. Thus, we need an expert to build competencies in our Research & Development department. You become the global advisor for the ECCO group ensuring that quality and knowhow is a part of the textile development process and shoe making application. This entails: Having the required technical background ensuring an in-depth understanding of fibres, yarns and textiles, securing that risks and constrains are understood from the beginning. Facilitating training courses on shoe technical level and acting as project manager to implement critical new textiles or processes to new products. Supporting the definition of standard and testing requirements for textiles, centralized in R&D Monitoring and bringing forward technical developments linked to textiles within our industry, studying textile innovation as well as testing and maturing new technologies considered relevant for look, functionality or optimisation. Preparing documentation for your findings and ensuring that the required SOPs (standard operation procedures) for process applications are available/documented, communicated and agreed upon towards production. Supporting and giving advice on production trials when applying new textile materials in shoe developments as well as providing support on possible issues in production in regard to material performance. Qualifications and Work Experience: You will need to be able to apply clear and transparent communication to colleagues/clients etc., thus creating an atmosphere of trust and respect for your work and within the organization. As such, you need to be a great team player who is flexible, approachable and easy to work with in order for your work to gain a foothold in our R&D, design, technical development and production. This requires you to be both technical and practical and to thoroughly document your work. To do so, we imagine that you: Have a textile and yarn technology education/are a textile engineer - preferably with shoe application knowhow. Have experience with yarn process engineering within a manufacturing production environment is a benefit. Have an in-depth understanding of materials and quality. Have project management experience combined with great process and planning skills. Might have knowledge within polyurethane production. Are able to cooperate well with suppliers. Are able to maneuver in a cross-cultural environment, speak and write English fluently and are able to travel up to 60 days a year.
