Joining our global R&D organization at manager or senior engineer level, you will work with colleagues in engineering and production to ensure the next generation of sustainable packing material meets market requirements and manufacturing capabilities.
Join a global team in a global role
The position will be based at our HQ in Billund, where you will join a team of 10 colleagues in Billund and another 2 in Czech Republic in the R&D Novelty & Materials team. Together, your team delivers packaging solutions for all core line LEGO® products, as well as ensuring that all materials are specified according to market needs and ensuring that all products are designed for manufacturing.
Your key responsibilities include:
- Be a key specialist, helping LEGO in transitioning into more sustainable packaging
- Improve and innovate on existing packaging material and construction platform both within own functional area, as well as collaborating with other key areas within LEGO
- Take part of the dedicated project organization in order to secure best practice for sustainable packaging within the industry
- Support sites globally in order to introduce and roll out new sustainable materials
- Scouting and understanding the markets of the packaging industry in order to identify future packaging and especially sustainable materials; furthermore, putting this in the context of LEGO, by understanding and implementing the potentials on a 2-3-year horizon
- Act as a key specialist in utilizing the tools and templates in the department for documenting, presenting, and visualizing the departments work to key stakeholders vertically and horizontally
- Execute physical hands-on testing for packaging solutions for quality and safety
You may have up to 20-30 days of travel per year in connection with new material introduction at our factories in Hungary, Czech Republic, Mexico and China.
Competencies we are looking for:
- Has proven knowledge or an education within packaging development and packaging materials
- Intensive experience within the cardboard and/or paper packaging business and preferably 1-3 years’ experience of project work or similar
- Experience in working in global teams collaborating among specialist towards a common goal
- Experience within supporting and giving input to packaging strategy
- Engineer, or other relevant education
- Experienced user in Microsoft power point, word, excel, and office
- Proficient English – Danish would be a definite advantage, but not a requirement
You know packaging material and have a flair for driving projects forward
We are looking for a colleague with a knack for structure and a nose for good processes. You have strong cross-cultural collaboration skills, and you communicate effortlessly with engineers and marketers alike. You also need to be prepared to do trail and error testing in order to validate new material and packaging solutions
