About the department Novo Nordisk department for Recombinant Expression Technologies has an opening for a research scientist with expert knowledge of yeast genetics, protein expression and secretion. The position includes development and optimisation of yeast expression systems for recombinant proteins of pharmaceutical relevance. About Global Research: the Global Research Unit specialises in the discovery of biological medicines for the treatment of type 1 and 2 diabetes. We also discover and develop new innovative biopharmaceuticals for haemophilia and growth disorders. Furthermore, we conduct stem cell and beta cell regeneration research and other early-stage investigations aimed at finding a cure for diabetes, as well as exploring novel treatments for obesity and long-term, micro-vascular complications of diabetes. The Global Research Unit consists of approximetly 1,500 highly qualified Scientists, PhDs/PostDocs and Lab Technicians and we conduct our world class research from sites based in the Greater Copenhagen area, Beijing and Seattle. The position You will be part of a team in a highly dynamic and challenging environment within the Global Research organisation. The Department for Recombinant Expression Technologies covers disciplines ranging from generation/optimization of expression constructs using both standard and high throughput molecular biology techniques, protein expression in mammalian and yeast host systems, to generation of advanced screening protocols. We work with state-of-the-art equipment and facilities. Our department offers a stimulating and enthusiastic research environment. You will work in cross-departmental and cross-functional project teams together with colleagues with a variety of scientific backgrounds. You will contribute to several projects in which you will be responsible for developing yeast expression systems for heterologous proteins. You will report directly to the team leader, and your main internal contacts in your daily work will be scientific colleagues, technicians and project members, as well as managers within Novo Nordisk R&D. Developing and maintaining strong networks will be an important part of your work. Qualifications You have a strong background in molecular biology or yeast genetics. Favourably you have practical experience with engineering yeast hosts for heterologous protein expression and setting up screens or selections. Experience with automation of molecular biology techniques, LC/MS for protein quantification and characterization or FACS sorting is considered an asset. General flair for advanced equipment is a prerequisite. You hold a PhD and have experience from working in either an academic or an industrial setting. You have very good communication and collaboration competencies as you will be expected to collaborate effectively with colleagues within the department as well as in multidisciplinary project teams. You have experience with supervision or management of, for example, students or technicians. You are result-oriented, innovative, have personal impact and a sense of individual responsibility. You are also open to new ideas and have good interpersonal skills. First round of interviews will take place in the start of July.
