Research Assistant in Laser Printed Thin Optical Elements

The research group of Prof. Anders Kristensen, works within nano-photonics and its integration with micro/nano fluidics for new sensor and actuator technology. Focus is on optical metasurfaces and photonic crystals enabling flat optical elements and compact sensors, addressing applications within biomedical devices. The research is complemented by technology development for industrial scale manufacture of nano-photonic components.

We seek a research assistant in laser printed thin optical elements to develop prototype lenses. The project combines research within the fields of nano-photonics/optical metasurfaces, clean-room based planar microfabrication and laser machining. The position is part of on-going early innovation activities with the aim to commercialize our novel ultra-high resolution laser printing technology.

Responsibilities and tasks

Our new research assistant will take responsibility to build and maintain the optical setups and experimental protocols to laser-write large area (6.5 cm diameter) the worlds thinnest lens prototypes.

• Are you interested in bringing state-of-the art nano-research out of the lab and into everyday consumer products, perhaps you are our new Research Assistant
• You will be responsible for the development of a laser writing setup in the optics laboratory - to laser print prototype lenses.
• You will contribute to the optical characterization and other evaluation of the prototype optical lenses.
• You will join a team of researchers to develop and explore the potential of our new ultra-high resolution laser printing technology.
• You will engage in early innovation activities together with our team of researchers and business developers.
• You have the ability to motivate your colleagues to be their best and achieve ambitious goals.

Qualifications

The successful candidate must hold a master's degree in physics or engineering.

• You must have experience in experimental optics and or micro and nano-fabrication.

• You are focused on the process as well as the outcome

Salary and terms of employment

The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union. The period of employment is 1 year.
