The Drivetrain department currently consists of more than 30 highly skilled employees situated in Denmark and in Germany. The department is responsible for the main gearbox, main shaft bearings, mechanical brake, couplings, gear stay, lubricants and lubrication system for all Vestas wind turbine generator (WTG) solutions. The Drivetrain development activities extend across the entire Powertrain R&D area also accountable for the generator. We have an immediate opening for a Mechanical Engineer, specializing in Product Maintenance and Improvement of the Powertrain system and its components. You will benefit from an environment working at a high professional level and with a strong technical commitment Responsibilities: Your responsibility will be Product Maintenance of Power-/Drivetrain systems and their components. You will be working with our entire range of our WTG product platforms, from the kW-class and up to 8MW. Main activities under this responsibility will include: Provide life-cycle support to existing Power-/Drivetrain system and its components. Identify and implement system-/and component improvements with respect to performance, quality and cost across our different product platforms. Work with standardization of solutions, components and processes within Power/-Drivetrain systems. Handle customer-/and stakeholder requests for non-standard solutions. Handle supplier requests for component changes and deviations. Create and maintain product documentation such as bill of material, item manuals, service-/and maintenance instructions. Work with design engineers on defining and maintaining spare parts. Work with suppliers and internal stakeholders on documenting and implementing methods for recovery and repair of components. Provide ad hoc assistance to new development and technology projects, for example in the completion of documentation tasks. Provide general business support to stakeholders such as Sourcing, Manufacturing and Service. Qualifications: Bachelor- or Master degree in Mechanical Engineering. Experienced (3-5 years) within the role as Product Maintenance responsible for Power-/Drivetrain system or equivalent. Strong technical skills and solid experience within development and verification of mechanical products and applications. You are experienced in working with 2D/3D CAD and document mgmt. systems such as Pro-E, PDM Link and SAP. Experienced within GT&D. You are familiar with Six Sigma development tools and development processes. Experience within certification and type approval of systems and components preferred. Experience within the wind turbine generator industry preferred. Competencies: You have a strong business understanding and can naturally incorporate the full value chain - for example Sourcing, Manufacturing and Service - in your daily work. You are pro-active and result oriented. You have a strong sense of responsibility. You must have good organizational and communication skills and you must be able to work within an international and multi-disciplinary team. Excellent language skills (speaking and writing) in English required. You are highly motivated.
