National Oilwell Varco Subsea Production Systems (NOV SPS) designs and manufactures flexible pipes and specific, innovative products for the offshore oil and gas industry. Advanced material modelling is important when designing advanced flexible pipes for demanding offshore applications. NOV is strengthening our competences in this area and thus seek additional modelling specialists.
Material modelling is anchored in our material technology department, in the Polymer and Material Modelling group. This group has the technical responsibility of polymeric materials used in our flexible pipes and other subsea products as well as material models, modelling the material behavior for use in our design tools. Your work will for the most part take place at our HQ in Brøndby.
You will mainly work with developing and documenting physical/mathematical models describing the behavior of our materials in flexible pipe applications. This can be modeling of gas diffusion in polymer materials and pipe structures, modelling of creep response of polymers under mechanical loading or modelling of material ageing phenomena. The approach can be both analytical and by numerical solutions such as finite element analysis. The main technical competences we are looking for are strong physical and mathematical analytic skills combined with a sound material, chemical and mechanical understanding.
In addition, it will be beneficial if you have competences and experiences in the following areas:
- Physical chemistry and PVT simulation for instance with PVTsim
- Programming, preferable Python
- Finite element analyses
- Analyses of experimental data
- Statistical analysis
Qualifications
You probably have a background in physics or physical chemistry and have flair for programming and mathematics. As a person you are out-going and a pro-active team player, working across engineering disciplines and have good communication abilities in an international environment with English as company language. You work systematically and ensure good documentation of performed work.
The Flexibles material technology department is located at our headquarter in Brøndby, where we support our Danish and Brazilian manufacturing facilities. We are 40 engineers and technicians with competences on steel, corrosion, polymers, material modelling and FRP materials. We act as a global competence center for material knowledge. Our products operate at extreme conditions and needs optimal technical solutions to obtain required performance. The technical level and requirements are therefore high and we are proud of our professional approach.
