Head of Section for SDU Engineering Operations Management

The Department of Technology and Innovation (ITI), University of Southern Denmark (SDU) in Odense, invites applications for a vacant position as Head of Section for SDU Engineering Operations Management. The position will be at the rank of full or associate professor.

The Head of Section will have direct reference to the Head of Department, and will be part of the department management group.

The candidate will be responsible for leading and developing the section, its teaching, research and innovation. The current academic fields include:

• Engineering aspects of operations and supply chain management;
• Systems engineering;
• Industrial engineering, including quality control and assurance;
• Engineering Management including costing, risk, reliability and decision making.

The section has responsibility for the following educational programmes:

• MSc in Operations Management;
• BEng in Global Management and Manufacturing;
• BEng in Manufacturing and Management.

Requirements and qualifications
The candidate must have a PhD degree in engineering operations management or adjacent field.

The candidate is expected to have an excellent track record in: 

• Research and education in Operations, Systems, Industrial Engineering or Engineering Management;
• Attracting competitive research funding;
• Collaborating with industry.

Experience in innovation and bringing research results to the market will be highly valued as will developing continuing education programs for executives and professionals. Leadership experience will also be highly valued.

The position is open now and the start date is as soon as possible but negotiable and preferable no later than 1 August, 2019.

Requirements for the position
Employment as a full or associate professor requires scientific qualifications at PhD level.

Applications will be assessed by an expert committee.
The committee may request additional information, and if so, it is the responsibility of the applicant to provide the necessary material. Applicants will be informed of their assessment by the Faculty.
 
Shortlisting may be used. Shortlisted applicants will be assessed by an assessment panel.
 
As part of the overall assessment of the applicant’s qualifications, the applicant may be called for interview.

The successful applicant will be employed in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations.Application
