Technology & Service Solutions /Rotor, Towers & Control/Tower Engineering Tower Engineering in Technology & Service Solutions (TSS) is maintaining and developing the complete Vestas tower program. The tasks range from structural engineering over highly specialized FEM calculations, requirements specifications, DFMEA, test planning and execution to risk assessments and compilation of certification documentation. Standard Towers & Internals is a sub-department of Tower Engineering. The department is responsible for design and certification of all standard towers including internals: access ladder, platforms, internal ladders, lift, HSE and compliance to the standards applicable to the markets where the towers are sold. Focus is on securing sound, cost-optimized and production friendly solutions and at the same time fulfilling the overall requirements to safety and functionality for the products. Additionally, process efficiency and lead time reduction is of key importance in order to fulfill Vestas’ overall ambitions of delivering products, which are configured to customer needs in a timely manner. The team is located at 3 different sites: Aarhus and Lem in Denmark and in Chennai, India. The team consists of 18 highly skilled technical designers and engineers with background in mechanical and civil engineering. Responsibilities: As Specialist/Technical Lead - Internals Design/Modularization you will report to the Director of Tower Engineering and your primary responsibility will be to drive the technical leadership of internals. In greater detail your areas of responsibility will be: Drive development of detailed design, system architecture and product configuration Ensure compliance with relevant HSE standards Ensure cross functional collaboration with relevant interface owners throughout the value chain Drive cost reduction and improve quality through standardization, modularization and process efficiency improvements Leverage on parameterized design for automatic generation of 3D models and 2D drawings where possible Implementation of configurable CAD models with PTC Creo Options Modeler (pilot project). Qualifications: Bachelor or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering Expert in use of advanced CAD systems and integration of PDM and option systems Preferably expert in PTC's CAD systems - i.e. Creo, PDM link and Options Modeler Experience in programming (as a minimum within CAD systems) Experience from larger R&D organization Experience with integrated product development and GMA Knowledge of design for manufacturing and preferably insight into wind turbines Knowledge of mechanical design and relevant design and HSE standards Competencies: We see the ideal candidate possessing the following personality and competencies: You have proven technical leadership experience, and drive development of use of advanced CAD systems You are process oriented and have a structured way to work You have a proactive and extrovert personality and can lead your surroundings with your good communication and stakeholder management You have a proven record in change management, and can motivate employees through transition You naturally lead, guide, advise and share knowledge with team and stakeholders You are a strong networker and able to build, develop and maintain relationships in a global environment You are a good communicator and possess English skills at a high level What we offer: We offer a challenging workplace with excellent professional and personal development opportunities in an inspiring, international work environment with the world’s leading wind turbine manufacturer.
