We are looking for a passionate and structured analyst, who wants to participate in developing new ways of analysing and quantifying the drivers of the container shipping industry, and thereby develop new and/or better business opportunities for our clients. You should thrive in a demanding work environment, and you will be expected to manage your own time and deadlines, and drive your own projects, as there is no micro-management at SeaIntel.

As we are a small company, you will be working directly with our CEO and you will be required to manage your own team of Junior Analysts. You will get the opportunity to learn about many different aspects of container shipping, and get to have a large impact on the company’s decisions and future development.

About the position:

The position will mainly consist of:

• Every week you will be sourcing, structuring and writing one of three pieces of analytic research for our weekly report, the SeaIntel Sunday Spotlight.
• Independently develop, own and drive analyses of the global container shipping market and transform these into reports for our clients globally.
• Contribute to the development and management of leading databases/datasets of schedule reliability, capacity projections, service networks, and much more.
• Oversight, mentoring and training of our Junior Analysts, who collect the data for our standard reports.
• Participate in consultancy assignments for our clients, whether they are ports, shipping lines, financial institutions or cargo owners.  
• Working with our CEO, developing market presentations, client proposals, designing new data products, and finding new business opportunities.             

Qualifications:

We expect you hold a graduate degree with a clear focus on quantitative analysis, e.g. Cand.Merc, Cand.Polit or an international business/finance degree, but your specific degree is not as important, as the ability to show a strong analytical skillset and a thorough understanding of scientific methods. We expect a global outlook, an interest in following events that impact global and regional trade, and strong business acumen. It will be an advantage if you have experience from the shipping industry, but it is not a requirement, however you should in that case be prepared for a sharp learning curve.

We expect that you speak and write English perfectly. Danish is not required.

A high degree of expertise and experience with Excel is required, including working with pivot tables, complex formulas and lookups, and comprehensive data structures.

Experience working with SQL, Visual Basic, Python or PHP would be very valuable.
