Do you want to excel in analytical chemistry to support the entire LEO Pharma A/S from Research through Development to Global Supply?

Global Research and Development in LEO Pharma A/S devotes its efforts to develop innovative drugs for the treatment of skin diseases like psoriasis and eczema. Throughout the entire lifecycle of medicinal products, vital parts of succeeding is supported by 1) Describing the chemical structures and understanding the solid state properties of our compounds, and 2) Develop and use advanced analytical techniques to support the entire company with substantial data and conclusions. We have an ambition to excel in this and that is why we need your scientific thinking!

NMR and solid state techniques on small molecules

You will immediately take an active, operational part in supporting the organisation. Here you will get to use your scientific knowledge and experience in combination with your analytical mindset.

In detail you will be expected to:

• Be an integral part of our dedicated team, where you will bring your analytical knowledge into play in a scientific manner.
• Provide the team with strong theoretical NMR skills and hands-on experience. Support the organisation with structure elucidation work on both the API’s and impurities. In addition to liquid state NMR equipment a HR-MAS probe is already available and further strengthening in solid state NMR is planned. It will therefore be preferable if you have knowledge and experience within the area of solid state NMR to support the organisation with quantitative NMR methods for e.g. solubility measurements in semi solid vehicles, polymorphic purity and amorphous content.
• Preferably provide skills within solid state characterization methods like: X-ray diffraction (XRPD, SXRD and X-ray fluorescence), Thermal analysis (DSC / TGA), Optical spectroscopy (UV-vis, IR and Raman) and Microscopic methods. Help with the general work in the solid state group and link between solid state NMR and traditionally solid state analysis.
• Be capable in running experiments, perform troubleshooting and manage equipment maintenance, of all the instruments by yourself within the NMR/solid state area in the laboratory. Write analytical documents for the health authorities within this field.
• Preferably strengthen the team within chemometric experience to set up models to obtain additional information in areas like polymorphic purity, understanding imaging results and quantitative methods.
  
  

Analytical profile with passion and drive

We are looking for a highly motivated and ambitious Scientist with an outgoing spirit. You have a proven track record of analytical work from university and preferably also from industry, and it is a further advantage if you have experience in chemometry. You hold a PhD in chemical sciences or related disciplines.

To help succeed in our ambition of excelling in NMR and solid state characterisation, you have a natural ability and desire to be logical and having an analytical way of thinking, you are ready to challenge status quo, and you have a desire to communicate and collaborate across disciplines.

In our R&D environment it is important that you are curious and have a decisive, flexible and open mindset.

Analytical Support – your new team

You will join 9 colleagues including a Ph.D. student in the department, Analytical Support – 6 scientists and 3 technicians. Our focus is to impact and support the entire organisation with scientific expertise within NMR, solid state properties and different separation techniques combined with mass spectrometry.
