Research Scientists in CHO Cell Line Engineering and Design

We are seeking two highly ambitious and talented Research Scientists to work on interdisciplinary projects within engineering and design of chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cells for biotechnological applications. The Research Scientists will work close together with other researchers in the CHO Cell Line Engineering and Design section at the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Biosustainability (DTU Biosustain). Responsibilities and tasks The Research Scientists will join a larger research project focusing on optimizing host cells for the production of complex therapeutic proteins. The Scientists will identify target genes, design genetic engineering strategies, screen and characterize cell lines. The work will include application of CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing technologies and systems biology techniques in addition to development of high-throughput assays. The candidates will work closely with other research groups and core facilities that aim at constructing superior cell factories and develop technologies that shorten the design cycle in cell line engineering. Qualifications Candidates should have a PhD degree or equivalent. Mandatory requirements: •PhD degree or similar in biology, biochemistry, biotechnology or bioengineering as well as academic qualifications equivalent to those obtained by holding a position as Researcher or Post doc •Minimum two years of post doc experience •Laboratory experience with CHO cell line engineering and CHO cultivation •High quality publication record and experience with inventions •Strong work ethic and motivation to succeed within a competitive research field •Good communication skills Preference given to candidates with experience in: •Generation of stable cell lines •Genome editing using CRISPR technology •Flow cytometry and single cell sorting •High-throughput technologies for cell cultivation and microscopy •Ligation free cloning methods •Protein expression and secretion Assessment In the assessment of the candidates consideration will be given to: •scientific production and research potential at international level •innovative skills and the ability to generate new ideas •the ability to communicate at all levels •an all-round experience basis, preferably including international experience •the ability to contribute to development of the department’s internal and external cooperation We offer We offer an interesting and challenging job in an international environment focusing on research and innovation, which contribute to enhancing the economy and improving social welfare.
