The National Food Institute (DTU Food), a department at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), invites applications for a position as research assistant in the research group of Nano-Bio Science preferably starting January 1., 2019, or soon after. The position is for one year, with the possibility for extension.

The PROBIO project is a collaboration project between Chr. Hansen and DTU-Food, Research Group for Nano-Bio Science supported by the Innovation Fund Denmark.  The project aims to develop technologies to encapsulate probiotic bacteria to utilize in health-promoting foods.

Responsibilities and tasks 
Your responsibilities will include:

  • Participation in the experimental planning of the project
  • Laboratory work within the field of design mechanical / electrical engineering and testing laboratory processing equipments
  • Execution of electrohydrodynamic processing methods
  • Handling and reporting of experimental data

Qualifications
Candidates should have a master’s degree in engineering or equivalent.

The ideal candidate has:

  • You must have a MSc degree within mechanical or electrical engineering or similar study programmes
  • You have experience with and enjoy lab work
  • You have hands-on experience with fabricating small laboratory scale systems and devices
  • Experience in areas such as fundamental classical mechanics, fluid and hydrodynamics, engineering design, materials engineering, micro/nanomanufacturing, and electrical fields, or related areas
  • Experience in electrohydrodynamics will be considered an advantage
  • You communicate fluently in English
  • You can work with deadlines and pressure
  • You are flexibile, enthusiastic, responsible, have team spirit and excellent collaboration skills
