Danish Diabetes Academy (DDA) is looking for an experienced Project Manager to apply for external grants in collaboration with external partners from life science, academia and hospitals for the period 2019-2021 .

 If you have experience with writing grant applications and project management, you may be the one that we are looking for to fill our new position as Project Manager at the Danish Diabetes Academy, a national initiative for diabetes research and diabetes research training funded by the Novo Nordisk Foundation.  

 As a part of the DDA Executive Management Team, you will take part in providing young research talents with optimal opportunities for research training and pursuing a career within diabetes research, and you will take part in unifying and creating network between the best young researchers and senior researchers from universities, hospitals and the life-science industry in Denmark. 

 The position is for two years.  

Qualification requirements as Project Manager

 You should hold as a minimum a Master’s degree (e.g. science, communication, political or social studies) with a minimum of three years of related experience and a proven track-record in grant writing.   

To perform the job successfully, you should demonstrate some or all of the following professional qualifications: 

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.  
• Experience in writing persuasive, clear, concise and visually attractive proposals. 
• Verifiable successful experience in technical writing, proofreading, editing, copywriting, grant writing or other equivalent written communication format. 
• Professional grant writing experience, preferably in an educational or non-profit setting or with EU applications is desirable. 
• Proficient in research, interpretation and in analysing diverse data. 
• Outstanding computer skills. 

 Furthermore, you should possess some or all of the following personal qualifications:  

• Organised and able to make structured plans and work under pressure to meet tight deadlines and funding goals, and simultaneously manage multiple priorities while maintaining a professional work style.  
• Demonstrate good team working skills, team-orientation, being able to build morale and group commitments to goals and objectives and ensure progress with the tasks that you are responsible for. Ability to be inventive and enterprising is required.  
• Possess the ability to work collaboratively and independently to achieve stated goals. Ability to coordinate overlapping projects and deadlines is required. 
• Experience of successfully soliciting European and preferably also regional and national corporations and foundations. 
• Demonstrated ability to promote the DDA’s fundraising and strategic priorities by developing excellent working relations with life science, academia and hospitals.

 Tasks as Project Manager 

The Project Manager is responsible for all phases of grant writing, including development of processes and procedures and the coordination of grant applications, and for administration of any grant deriving from these grant applications.   

The essential duties and responsibilities for the Project Manager include the following: 

• Actively seek, identify and recognize external opportunities e.g. Horizon 2020 Funding (Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions https://ec.europa.eu/research/mariecurieactions/) that present viable funding opportunities and match priorities of the DDA, life science, academia and hospitals.  
• Identify and engage with prospect relevant national or international partners from life science, academia and hospitals.  
• Take part in writing, editing, revising and submitting project applications. 
• Create, design and develop processes and procedures related to grants management and grant proposal development. 
• Take part in collecting and summarising funded programme/project outcomes and budget expenses and submitting timely reports to funding organisations. 
• Administer any grants deriving from the grant applications, especially the EU funding programme Horizon 2020.

As a Project Manager you will be a part of a newly established secretariat located at Odense University Hospital. The secretariat has seven employees covering competences within project management, human resources, communication and languages, finance/economy, coordination of events and development of training and educational methods and tools.   

Place of employment, salary and terms of employment  You will be employed at Odense University Hospital with reference to the Managing Director of the DDA.   

Employment period will be from 1 June 2019 to 31 May 2021.

  Remuneration according to the applicable regional collective agreement with an opportunity to negotiate a salary based on individual qualifications.
