- Mechanical engineer or industrial designer with a deep technical understanding Ohmatex’s core competence is the integration of microelectronics in clothing and textiles. We seek a skilled project manager to head a new project for the Europeans Space Agency - ESA. The job: Exploiting and further developing a muscle activity monitoring solution that involves a plethysmographic measurement technology together with NIRS and EMG sensors build into an astronaut sock. Your primary tasks will include: Design and definition of the full wearable monitoring solution with focus on robustness and ergonomic fit. Development of encapsulation methods and materials for sensor integration to textiles. All materials must be approved for space. Experimental trials on physiological measurement and technical evaluations will be conducted throughout the project. Prototypes and mock-ups will be made at Ohmatex premises. Industrial design on all plastic parts and textile patterns (3D and 2D).Definition of manufacturing processes with focus on space compliancy, commercial scalability and cost. Project management and coordination of Ohmatex’s ESA project, inclusive reporting requirements. You should expect an average 2-3 travel days per month. Qualifications: We know that intelligent textiles are a specialist niche and do not expect you to have prior knowledge of this field. Good practical skills are important and a flair for electronics is a plus. We expect that you have a mechanical engineering degree, MSc, or similar. Experience with mechanical, textiles, electronics or plastic engineering would be a definite advantage – we use SolidWorks and Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop. It is essential that you have previous project management experience, and speak and write English with professional proficiency.
