Postdoc in Modeling for Process Development, Innovation and Optimization in Life Science Industries

CAPEC-PROCESS research center at the Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering, at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) is looking for talented postdoctoral candidates. The goal of the CAPEC-PROCESS center at the Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering is to develop and validate state-of-the-art CAPE/PSE methods and tools, and the technologies for future chemical and bio-based processes. Responsibilities and tasks The position will be integrated into ongoing research projects in the area of advancing modeling for process design and innovation and optimization in life science industries. The postdoctoral position will feature responsibilities and tasks including but not limited to: •Undertake leading edge scientific research in model-based enabling technology for development of new processes and products for life science industries. •Development of in-silico process synthesis and design tool for biopharmaceutical applications •Development of metamodelling toolbox for global optimization, uncertainty and sensitivity analysis Other content of the position: •Contributing to and supporting project management tasks for a Horizon 2020 Marie-Curie ITN project (15 ESRs with 8 beneficiaries and 3 partner organizations) where DTU Chemical Engineering is the coordinating institute, •Co-supervising relevant PhD and MSc projects in the area of advanced modeling, simulation with applications to life-science industries •Contributing to teaching in graduate courses including process design and risk assessment. The position provides excellent opportunities to further develop skills and competences in multi-partner collaborative scientific research, project management and teaching in the area of process systems engineering as well as exposure to a strong network of academics and industrial partners at European and international levels. Qualifications The candidate needs to have a PhD in Chemical Engineering with a solid background and expertise in one of the following key areas of process systems engineering: •Modeling and simulation (property and process modelling), numerical methods, mathematical programming ( optimization) •Process synthesis and design, Separation processes, process and energy integration •Experience with domain applications in classical (chemicals, oil and gas) or in emerging area of chemical engineering applications (e.g. life sciences). •Solid experience with process simulators (e.g. Aspen, ProII, gProms, etc) for research and teaching applications We offer We offer an interesting and challenging job in an international environment focusing on education, research, public-sector consultancy and innovation, which contribute to enhancing the economy and improving social welfare.
