Postdoc in Dynamic Nuclear Polarization NMR in Chemistry and Biophysics

We would like to invite application to a 2 year postdoctoral position at Department of Chemistry and the HYPERMAG Center of Excellence at DTU Health Tech.

Faculty of DTU Chemistry are active partners in the HYPERMAG Center funded by the Danish National Research Foundation and perform joined research at both departments. An overall aim is to use DNP-NMR to provide experimental insight into processes in chemistry, biochemistry and biophysics.

Research project


Recent developments in hyperpolarization methods at the center have provided new opportunities in polarizing water to a high extent. This has opened new possibilities towards investigating reactions with water and in assessing the difference between water close to interfaces and in the bulk in a chemical and biophysical context.

One specific aim is the investigation of carbohydrates and their enzymatic hydrolysis.

Responsibilities and tasks


The successful candidate will contribute to the establishment of a new line of research in the center.

The candidate will establish new experimental methods using hyperpolarized water and design new application protocols in collaboration with other researchers and technical staff.

The candidate will furthermore provide and contribute to,

• Assistance in and involvement with other research projects and topics in the group
• Help with the supervision of PhD students
• Taking responsibility for research equipment
• Experimental design, data analysis, writing of scientific articles and presentations at conferences

Qualifications

Candidates should have a PhD degree or equivalent in chemistry.

The successful candidate should:

• Have a documented track record in experimental DNP-NMR methods
• Have a documented track record in advanced NMR methods
• Have deep insight in chemistry and DNP theory
• Be highly motivated to drive a challenging research project
• Feel comfortable in an interdisciplinary research environment
• Have a strong track record in the generation, analysis, interpretation and dissemination of scientific results (as demonstrated by publications and presentations)

Salary and terms of employment


The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union.

The period of employment is 2 years and the position is to be filled as soon as possible.
