Gubra is seeking a Research Scientist with an engineering and technical focus to join our highly interactive Pharmacology Research Department consisting of animal technicians, laboratory technicians, and scientists.  In Pharmacology Research, we work with a variety of metabolic animal models. Our current focus is on diabetes, obesity, NASH/NAFLD, and gastrointestinal diseases; however, diabetic complications related to the cardiovascular system and kidneys (nephropathy) are growing areas of research at Gubra.
 
The continuous growth at Gubra has necessitated increased the number of people, studies, and general activities. To meet these growing requirements, we are seeking an in-vivo scientist with technical interest, focusing on developing our animal facilities with regards to capacity, work-flow, automatization and efficient utilization of existing technologies. In addition, we expect the candidate to direct our technical food-intake and energy expenditure systems. Further, it is preferred that the candidate has a strong metabolic background and the ability to successfully perform in vivopharmacology studies in rodents.

At Gubra, we strongly believe in advancing science by continuously testing hypotheses through scientific studies in both the animal facilities and the laboratory. As a Research Scientist in our Pharmacology department at Gubra, you will support that vision by taking ownership of the engineering focus in the animal facility.
 
 Your tasks as a Research Scientist are varied, but include:

• Optimizing facility & capacity utilization in close collaboration with users
• The point of contact for all technical equipment
• Interest in optimizing workflow & robotization
• Anticipating inspections and pursuing relevant accreditations
• Facilitate an efficient and lean working structure in parallel with a high-level work environment
• Designing and conducting in vivo pharmacology studies in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders
• Coordinating tasks within the Pharmacology department and other areas of Gubra to ensure successful execution of studies
• Communicating with customers orally and in writing (English) 

Desired Professional qualifications:

• An engineering or life science background
• Great technical understanding and interest
• Workflow and process experience, ideally with LEAN focus
• A metabolic understanding within diabetes, obesity, metabolic disease and/or diabetic complications is preferred
• Experience as Study Director for in vivo pharmacology studies
• Consistent and reliable execution of tasks as must
