About the department
Government & Industry Relations is an area within Corporate Affairs at Novo Nordisk. We engage and drive activities with governments and industry associations to create a supportive environment for people with diabetes. You will join a high performing team of skilled colleagues all engaged in Danish, European and Global political and policy issues. We are located at Novo Nordisk global headquarter (NNHQ) in Bagsværd, Denmark.
The position
You will be based in our global headquarter in Denmark but working closely with Novo Nordisk Region China (NNRC) located in Beijing, China. You will act as strategic public affairs advisor to NNRC with the purpose to ensure that what we do in Denmark support NNRC in excel their WIN+2025 Strategy through public affairs activities. Novo Nordisk has been in China for more than 50 years and we have a full-value presence in China spanning our sales affiliate, strategic production site and R&D Center.
Your responsibilities will include:
- To build close collaboration between NNRC and NNHQ within Public Affairs by establishing a ‘one point of entry’ in NNHQ for NNRC on public affairs. This will include owning all planning and execution of delegation visits from China to Denmark and ensure that NNRC gets maximum value from our new strategic partnership with the World Economic Forum.
- Further strengthen Novo Nordisk’s relations with the Chinese Embassy in Denmark and Danish political stakeholders of importance for NNRC.
- Provide support on public affairs to Novo Nordisk Site Tianjin (our strategic production site in China) within public affairs in accordance with their needs.
You will get the opportunity to enhance your professional and personal development and to engage with stakeholders inside and outside Novo Nordisk including politicians and public officials.
The position is project based and time-limited to 2 years with possibility for extension and you will have around 30-40 days of travel to China annually.
Qualifications
You hold a Master’s degree in Political Science, Business Administration, Economy, International Management, Communications or similar and you have 2+ years of experience from a similar function or from government or public administration with preferably a focus on China or an international scope.
You have a strong understanding of the political system in Denmark and probably also in China, and preferably have experience from working with private sector engagement with World Economic Forum, embassies, governments and international organisations. An understanding of the business environment of the life science industry is a clear advantage. Fluency in written and spoken English is a pre-condition and good skills in Chinese is a clear advantage.
You have a track record of success in project management and in providing support to senior management (briefings, presentations etc.). You are well-respected and able to build positive relations and you take initiative and act on opportunities when they arise. You have good strategic, analytical and communicative skills, are structured, flexible and solution-oriented and in addition able to drive change and adapt to new challenges. Finally, you ideally have a good understanding of China and Chinese culture.
