In short: Vestas Power Solutions (VPS) develop the wind power systems of the future. Since 2017 Vestas strategy also include development of Hybrid plants (Wind turbines, PV panels and Battery storage).

In that connection our Data, Simulation and Modelling department in VPS is responsible for developing new tools for Siting and Sizing of Hybrid plants. The responsibility spans from strategic development of new technologies to delivering tools that can perform sizing of Hybrid plants, e.g. proper selection of the hybrid system with proper cost and sizing optimization of its components.

In our department we have a team that is dedicated specifically to technology development for our next generation of Wind and Hybrid Plant Products. We have multiple ongoing R&D projects directly aimed at bringing down the cost of energy of wind and hybrid power. In this team, we need a new team-member who focuses developing Sizing of Hybrid plants tool.

Responsibilities

Your main responsibility will be to drive innovation from a very conceptual level to full scale demonstrator stage. You will have the opportunity to turn new ideas into concepts and contribute to the state of the art in Sizing of Hybrid Plants. The main objective is to drive down the cost of energy of wind and hybrid power.

More specifically, you will:

• Contribute to the technology roadmap for new projects.
• Participate in and work on technology projects including implementing requirements.
• Enable your stakeholders by communicating the right requirements.
• Work closely with a broad variety of stakeholders across the organization.
• Develop and to some extend program new algorithms for sizing of hybrid power plants.
• Communicate and commercialize complex ideas in an easily understandable way.

You will be immediately involved in one of our flagship technology projects, and in time with the right level of experience and mind-set, lead your own.

Qualifications

• MSc or PhD in physics, mathematical modelling, wind or solar energy, or similar.
• Some experience within the area of Hybrid plants.
• Proven experience with tools for designing energy systems (e.g. HOMER, energyPRO or similar.
• Deep understanding of Power Plant Optimization.
• Proven experience with technology development, innovation and certification.
• Solid language skills in English.

The following skills are an additional benefit:

• Experience with Hybrid Plants Design.
• Experience with Optimization algorithms.
• Good programming skills with emphasis on quality, readability and maintainability.
• Experience with Python.

Additional information
