Are you a driven people manager with a Medical Doctor background and would you like to take on the responsibility of heading up a team of approximately10 ambitious medical specialists? Then this opportunity as Director of Medical & Science, GLP-1 Diabetes, NADs (New Anti Diabetics) & Complications may be for you. As the director, you will lead the team and have the medical responsibility for clinical development and life cycle management of a portfolio of projects.

 

In Global Development, we are responsible for managing clinical drug development worldwide from early development phases to product introduction and life cycle management. We ensure medical and scientific documentation for clinical submissions and authorities while ensuring that the process lives up to uniform global standards, regulations and business ethics.

About the department
GLP-1 Diabetes, NADs & Complications area is part of Global Development. We are responsible for the establishment of medical and clinical strategies as well as for the execution of clinical trials within our key projects. The projects span the clinical development life cycle from early translation of non-clinical data into first human dose trials all the way through late-stage trials for marketing authorisations as well as life cycle management.

 

The department is located in Søborg, Denmark. We have an engaging work environment, with collaboration across project teams and people with many different backgrounds. Our key external stakeholders are the scientific community and medical experts, regulatory authorities and market access institutions.

The position 
As Director of the department you will head up the department and manage relationships with internal and external key collaborators, including Novo Nordisk affiliates. It will be your responsibility to ensure a well-functioning and highly motivated team and ensure the high quality, scientific accuracy and alignment across the different projects and indications.

 
You will collaborate closely with a variety of colleagues across the Novo Nordisk organisation. The job is globally oriented and will also require strong interaction with regulatory bodies and therapeutic experts. Travel activity is expected.
 
You will report to the Vice President of Medical and Science GLP-1 Diabetes, NADs & Complications and we expect you to take an active part in developing the area and participate in various improvement projects, including process optimisation.

Qualifications
You are a Medical Doctor by training and have documented scientific merits such as e.g. a Ph.D. degree or equivalent – preferably within an area related to our research. Experience with project and/or people management is required. You have relevant experience with clinical development from the pharmaceutical industry including executing clinical trials and interaction with health authorities. Furthermore, you have experience with working in international environments and with diverse professional groups.

Naturally, you set direction, lead and motivate your team and have strong stakeholder management capabilities. As a person you thrive in a setting with a high level of complexity and have solid problem-solving capabilities. Excellent collaboration and communication skills and fluency in English is expected.
