C++ Software Engineers in R&D Front Office, Odense, Denmark

Are you a skilled C++ software engineer with good people skills and an interest in mathematics? Then you might be our new colleague in the R&D Front Office team. You will be working in teams with open-minded, passionate and engaged colleagues that are doing what they love to do, in an environment where all ideas and creative solutions are welcome. The team is built from experts that collectively have a deep understanding of all aspects of our products, including mechanical design, electrical design, embedded software, controller software, high-level software, test systems and production setup.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Your team take over when a task cannot be resolved outside R&D. It might be that our support organization has encountered and reproduced a problem that needs to be fixed in an upcoming software release. Or maybe a product owner needs a new feature that can't wait for our next major release. It could also be that our assembly line next door needs something included in the software that makes it easier to make robots fast and with the right quality. Your closest colleagues will be experts inside R&D, but you will be working with a lot of people in the rest of our organization as well.
• As a C++ software engineer in your team, most of your work will focus on our robot controller software. The controller software is designed to make a 6-axis robot arm move while interpreting a robot program in real time. It is the controller that is responsible for calculating how individual joints should be moving in order to realize a linear motion in tool space, it is also responsible for ensuring that all planned motion can be realized by our hardware, and it implements safety features such as maximum tool speed and virtual safety planes that cannot be penetrated by the robot's tool.
• You will be working on a highly advanced piece of software, and thus we expect that you will have to learn a lot along the way. Fortunately, your colleagues are not merely experts in their fields, but also eager to help you whenever you are stuck.
• Most of your work will find its way into one of our frequent software releases, but first it will be peer reviewed by a colleague, and it will go through our extensive test setup, that automatically tests our product around the clock.
• We are constantly improving our tools and processes to ensure that we produce a product of the right quality. We welcome change and we expect you to do the same.

Qualifications, Experience, Skills & Education Required:

• Your most important qualification is to have a mindset that is compatible with working in an R&D Front Office. If things get a bit hectic, you don't panic, but adjust your priorities, and do the right thing, alone or in collaboration with others.

• You enjoy communicating, and you are effective at it, no matter whether you are talking to an engineer, a technical supporter or a worker on our production floor.
• You are already a good C++ programmer or you want to become one. Maybe you have experience from other programming languages.
• You are interested in mathematics and linear algebra. Maybe you have prior experience with kinematics.
• Specific tool and technology knowledge is not mandatory, but we expect that you are willing to work with:
  • Linux.
  • Common development tools such and source control, build systems and test automation.
  • Basic robot programing.
  • Embedded software
  • Python scripts
• Finally, we expect that you are not afraid of robots and don't mind occasionally wearing ESD clothing and safety shoes.
• Holding a driver’s license, as there might be some transport between our two sites in Odense.
